Does it matter if Bush or Al Gore were president, all politicians are the same. The all go back on their word and get paid off by the rich. No one can say they either Bush or Kerry have accepted mpney from big business. If Bush is really trying to protect america, then why doesn't he go after North Korea? Ne one wanna comment? Because he knows he can't win, because the north has NUKES!!! in which millions of people will die and he knows that there's no value in making a war, but in Iraq, there's plenty of Oil!!!! and Iraq has a weak military with no loyalty. As the North has the world's 3rd largest army that is well equipped and their soldiers will fight to the death. I have not seen hussien show any agression towards the US, but the North has admitted to lying to the world about it's weapons of mass destruction and it continues to produce weapons, and still bush does nothing, and it's the only country with the balls to fight an all-out-war with the US, NUKES!!! and all. Ya... Nice going Bush, you have done nothing to protect america, why not go after drug lords in columbia, they are also terrorist and help fund it. OWWww.. right no oil Dahhh.... the war in Iraq was illegal, the world voted no to the war, and still the bush administration disobeyed the U.N. Bush has fucked our reputation with the world and think's that his views are the rests of the worlds. some president. If we really wanna make a difference i say we all vote green party and kick both parties out of the white house.

Hey morons, Bush is a stronger president than Al Gore could have ever been. When it comes down to it Bush stands strong and Al Gore is a pussy. This is not europe, we are not "global citizens" we are americans. American ideals = Republicans. Vote republican and save this country from turning into another welfare, secular country like France.

Nice logic in this post.

1. Someone who doesn't like Bush made a pretty stupid song.

2. Lots of punks are against Bush, and some are in an organization called Punks Against Bush.

3. Since they are both against Bush, the punks must support the idiot who wrote the song.

Makes sense to me. Wait, I don't like Bush's policies either. I guess that means I must like the idiot and his stupid song...but I don't like the song or the idiot who wrote it. I'm so confused!

Chris, jus tbecause I politically disagree with the "punk position" doesn't mean it's wrong for them to have that position, or any other necessarily. I was merely sharing my anecdotal observation that anti-war, anti-corporate, anti-mainstream America in general, and certainly anti-Bush perspective is near-universal within the current punk scene. I wouldn't expect it to be otherwise. they are punks, after all.

What I think many Punks Against Bush fear - and they do fear - is that Bush is using the 911 bombings for political gain.

And what political gain would that be, eh? Protecting his people from further suicide attacks?

Or is it perhaps Bush's fault that we were attacked in the first place, eh?

He used that horrible disaster as a way to push forward his own personal vendetta/war with Hussein.

And your proof of that being what, what? Eh? That his name is Bush?

If his name were Clinton would you be saying anything different? For surely Clinton did plenty of bombing himself.

Agreed. But why is this wrong? Why is it wrong to condemn Bush and his policies? The punks had a ready-made villain in Reagan, and frankly, Bush fits the same mold nicely for today's generation.

We could argue that modern-day punks are rebels without a cause, though I, for one, think they have a cause. Frankly, the punk persona is violent for the most part, making their stand for peace rather ironic. But I still think their stand is valid.

I would say the final remark about touring with the punks is clearly meant humorously - it's separate from the rest and a very different tone.

Surely most American and Brit punks don't go this far, but there does seem to be near universal condemnation of Bush and mainstream US policies in general in the punk attitudes I have seen.

In over my head...hardly.

You think that my snide remarks about this Egyptian idiot and Punk against Bush is a bit ott. Fair enough, but to call me narrow-minded is just foolish.

Of course, I think the "Bush lied", "Bush is an idiot", and "Bush stole the election" are norrow-minded, untrue and pathetic. To each is own I guess.

"you haven't listened to many punk lyrics in your time have you?"

Yes I have, and I mentioned them. You can't lump one musical form into being anti-Bush.

"And since when is bleating the words "Bush out" or "I hate Bust" not narrow-minded politically?"

Andrew, you're in over your head. It is not the trumpeting of "I hate Bush" that I claim is narrow minded, it is the mocking of any political opinion different from your own I consider to be narrow minded.

What I think many Punks Against Bush fear - and they do fear - is that Bush is using the 911 bombings for political gain. He used that horrible disaster as a way to push forward his own personal vendetta/war with Hussein. Now perhaps we did need to flex our military muscle after the terrorist bombings. But that is what they are railing against. They are no more happy about the terrorist bombings than you are, an certainly not as happy as the batty Egyptians.....

Wow, great comeback, too bad all of those things you named were recorded before 9/11. So of course they didn't mention 9/11.

Narrow political beliefs? Obviously you know nothing about me then. And since when is bleating the words "Bush out" or "I hate Bust" not narrow-minded politically?

When you discuss punk, make sure you know what you are talking about. The Ramones are punk just as Jodie Foster's Army are punk - but I don't see many lyrics too offensive from either one of those excellent bands. The Clash are punk just as The Misfits are punk, but I don't see too many lyrics supporting Sept. 11 on those albums either. Rap has offensive lyrics too - why not go after them as well? In fact, why not go after every single musical form that does not adhere to your rather narrow political beliefs? Who's next, Bob Dylan?

Really, you haven't listened to many punk lyrics in your time have you? I was also being slightly sarcastic...

I know lots of Republican pinheads...as in most of the Young Republicans I've met.

I've know a lot of punk pinheads in my time, just as I've known a lot of consevative Republican pinheads. But to classify a Punk Against Bush movement with that of batty Egyptians railing against the "evil" United States is about as valid as comparing The Monkees with The Doors. It reveals a lack of knowledge of not only the fabric of the U.S., but human nature in general. My advice is to run for governor of Alabama.....or at least Texas.

Yawn yawn. Boring. Call him inept all you want, but I am pretty sure at this point there isn't anyone, NOT EVEN AL GORE, who has time for the "bogus election" argument. We know. Popular vote. Recall. Florida. It isn't sexy, compelling, useful, or otherwise persuasive.

so how does this have anything whatsoever to do with people that disagree with "president" bush's politics?
i agree that the writer of the quoted song doesn't know waht they're talking about, but that doesn't change the fact that george w. bush is a uselessly inept "president" that wasn't even legally elected.
