Her prim and proper family aren't going to know what hit them when Steve rolls in with the obnoxious act. We'll just have to wait and see how the ratings come out on this one to see the true winner (Fox), but I'm thinking it will do pretty well compared to some of their other 'reality' efforts to date. I think Simon is doing a fine job. I thought Randy was often more brutal in his commentary. "At some point, as a parent, it is your job to help guide your kids away from things they aren't good at and get them into things that they might succeed in." Yeah, no shit. This self-esteem stuff has gone too far. I was reminded again of how sheltering parents want to be of their kids when I found out that in T-ball nobody keeps score. I'm guessing that some of the contestants on AI were brought up on an unhealthy diet of self-esteem. But I think a lot of them are just having fun. They got on TV, and for a lot of people, that's a mission accomplished, whether they suck or not. Others are probably just idiots, like the guy from Bosnia, who thinks he is now going to break into the acting profession. I liked the red-headed Dean Martin guy the best. Weird? Yeah, sure. One last thing: I caught the big fat fiance thing, as well, and found that the girl comes off as a prissy, judgmental, spoiled brat airhead. So, although the fat guy may be obnoxious, he's partly faking it, and it will be hard for me to root for the girl. Yuk to her and that nose, anyway.
