Along with remaindered books, DVD dump bins are sources of unappreciated gems. My latest bargoon find is "Storefront Hitchcock", a concert film by Robyn Hitchcock, directed by Jonathan Demme (Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense").

As with "Stop Making Sense", Demme uses a theme to take the performance beyond being just a recording, in this case, Hitchcock performs in a Manhatten furniture store with the storefront window and street behind him. Passers-by look in through the window as he's playing in the first part of the video.

One of the distinctive parts of a live performance by Robyn Hitchcock are his very English, surreal, almost stream-of-conscious introductions, which make perfect sense.

Clocking in at 80 minutes, "Storefront Hitchcock" features four songs exclusive to the video, and at under $10, solid value for both fans and an introduction to Hitchcock's folk-art-rock. The concert includes:
