Media Whore's Top 20 CD's of 2003
Published January 16, 2004

Better late then never. The list is quite diverse in musical styles I have to say. From pop to hip hop to alt rock - it's all there.
1. Rufus Wainwright - "Want One" - This is just a gorgeous CD. The writing, vocal, arrangements all melt into one beautiful package.
Standout Song: "Beautiful Child"
2. Raveonettes - "Chain Gang of Love" - A Rock 'n' Roll Wall of Sound with distorted guitars.
Standout Song: "Remember"
3. Postal Service - "Give Up" - In the same vein as New Order, Pet Shop Boys, OMD, Psychedelic Furs.
Standout Song: "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight"
4. Jody Watley - "Midnight Lounge" - This is not the Jody Watley of the '80's. Excellent smooth chill out grooves; from house to drum & bass.
Standout Song: "Saturday Night Experience"
5. Basement Jaxx - "Kish Kash" - The even make N Sync's JC Chasez sound cool.
Standout Song: "Lucky Star"
6. Anthony Hamilton - "Comin' From Where I'm From" - The best R&B, yes-actual R&B, CD of the year. Great voice, sound and production.
Standout Song: "Comin' From Where I'm From"
7. The Shins - "Chutes Too Narrow" - The CD is full of amazing hooks and melodies. An acquired taste.
Standout Song: "Young Pilgrims"
8. Annie Lennox - "Bare" - Let's not have to wait another 11 years for new solo material.
Standout Song: "A Thousand Beautiful Things"
9. Junior Senior - "D-D-Don't Don't Stop the Beat" - Just the think dance music needed. Something new and different.
Standout Song: "Move Your Feet"
10. Kristine W - "Fly Again" - The dance diva is back with her best CD to date. Great songs and that voice kills me everytime.
Standout Song: "Sing a Song"
11. Damien Rice - "O" - Haunting and never ordinary music with great lyrics to boot.
Standout Song: "Cold Water"
12. The White Stripes - "Elephant" - Love 'em or hate 'em this is a fantastic CD.
Standout Song: "Seven Nation Army"
13. Outkast- "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" - Overplayed, but still greatly creative hip-hop.
Standout Song: "Hey Ya!"
14. Seal - "Seal IV" - Soul baring songs, and great delivery.
Standout Song: "Love's Divine"
15. Cat Power - "You Are Free" - A very stark CD, but beautiful arrangements.
Standout Song: "He War"
16. The Thrills - "So Much For the City" - Dublin, meet the Beach Boys.
Standout Song: "Big Sur"
17. Black Eyed Peas - "Elephunk" - Treading the fine line between hip-hop/rap and pop. It's just funkalicious.
Standout Song: "Where Is the Love"
18. Travis - "12 Memories" - Beautiful arrangements and an amazing sound. It's a darker CD than the previous two.
Standout Song: "The Beautiful Occupation"
19. Dido - "Life For Rent" - A beautifully unique voice with some emotionally charged songs.
Standout Song: "Don't Leave Home"
20. Ronald Isley - "Here I Am" - Really amazing interpretations of Burt Bacharach songs. This CD took me totally by surprise.
Standout Song: "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head"
