Jermaine, With Nothing Better to Do, Rallies Troops for Michael
Published January 12, 2004
This story reminds me of this post by our Crushkill. How many of these knee jerk MJ supporters have really looked into the series of allegations against him? Do they really ALL stem from the fact that Michael is just "different" and "misunderstood"? How do YOU know he's just different and misunderstood? How do you know he's innocent? Is he innocent of pathologically lying about his many cosmetic surgeries? Is he innocent of the baby dangle? Is he innocent of an obsession with children and childhood? Of course the pivotal question is whether this obsession is dangerous.
- Michael Jackson's family and fans are planning to send a caravan of buses and cars to take fans to support the singer when he appears in court on Friday.
Brother Jermaine Jackson will hold a press conference with fan groups on Monday to give details of their plans.
Also on Monday, 25 Jackson accountants, lawyers, bankers and managers will meet to discuss the star's business affairs.
....The court hearing on Friday will be the arraignment - the first appearance before a judge at which the charges are read and the defendant enters a plea.
Fans are expected to come from across California - and even further afield - to show their support, according to freelance publicist Angel Howansky, who is helping to co-ordinate the event.
"We've had fans calling from out of state who are flying in just for the arraignment," she said.
....The highly-motivated and well-organised fans will also meet on the evening before the arraignment to make placards for the following day.
The venue for the meeting, the Royal Copenhagen Inn in Solvang, near Santa Maria, is even giving a discount on its rooms for Mr Jackson's fans. [BBC]

Might be true for those who insist he is guilty too.
Absolutely - right now only about two people know for sure whether he is innocent or guilty. But I don't see calls for "guilty rallies." How can people presume to know he is innocent (or guilty) - that's my point.
Actually, with all due respect, the fact that you put "or guilty" in parentheses shows your point, Eric. You've been very clear about where you stand. :)
No one save those two know whether he is guilty or innocent. And perhaps the "family and fans" are throwing rallies, as silly as that is, because the mob screaming "guilty" is so huge and loud.
Yeah, most people do seem to have convicted Jackson before the trial, and that's unfortunate. But something really bothers me about drawing partisan crowds to the actual trial, regardless of which side they're on.
As for the two people who know whether he's guilty or innocent, you're not including Michael Jackson are you? 'Cause I'm not sure he's clear on that.
I have no doubt about his "guilt" regarding many things - no need to reiterate them - but I do not presume to know his status in this most important of matters.
I hope he is innocent - and I don't mean legally innocent, I mean he didn't do it innocent - because his innocence would make it much easier for me to go back to being a fan of his music, which I was very strongly from '69 until at least '93, when the combination of behavior and allegations really started to creep me out.
I would cheerfully accept merely being creeped out by him at this stage of the game, rather than him being a confirmed child molester. If I am harsh toward Jackson, much of it is from the position of a severely disappointed fan.

Sounds like mob justice: he who can bring the biggest mob must be in the right.
