I am sympathetic to the argument presented. One of the things I learned in Anti-Trust law was that today's monolopy is tomorrow's bankruptcy, especially in a business environment of rapidly changing technology/product. The article bears this out for media, at least at first glance.

I don't have the problems with FOX that critics have, because I see FOX as one of many and not as the anti-christ.

My own personal, uninformed (since we seem to be having to qualify our statements these days), is that so many people who geniunely care about this issue are so blinded by their hatred for FOX that they miss the proverbial forest/trees.

I have been a McSweeneys (Web Version)Day Oner in terms of reading, so I get the idea that there is really a diversity of media outlets available and most of 'em serve niche markets and this is what makes America great.

So, in the final analysis, the article is an important contribution to this debate and is factually based rather than emotionally based like most of the arguments I have heard/read decrying media consolidation and so I tentatively agree with the thesis/conclusion of the author, but am open on this issue.
