Liberal Lemmings
Published January 06, 2004
As discussed over at my blog, The Naproom I frequently discuss the problem the modern Democratic party is in.
Do you remember the video game "Lemmings"? You control these lemmings and they do whatever the main one does. I like sending them to their deaths by falling off a cliff. Well that is exactly what the Democrats are doing now by following Howard Dean as he moves the Democratic party out of the mainstream and into the far left fringes of American Politics.
The newest Democrat to endorse Howard Dean is none other than Bill Bradley.
Foxnews.com
HARLES CITY, Iowa - Former Democratic presidential candidate Bill Bradley endorsed Howard Dean on Monday, giving the former Vermont governor another boost in the Democratic race for president.
Dean's "campaign offers American new hope," Bradley said. "His supporters are breathing fresh air into the lungs of our democracy. They're revitalizing politics.
This Howard Dean really freaks me out. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, spent his summers in a all-white and no Jews allowed country club, had a live in nurse, and was very well-off.
In a recent interview from her three bedroom Park Avenue apartment Howard Dean's mother, Andree said "Howard didn't have the least bit of a glamorous upbringing.''
She noted that everytime she had a child they had to convert the dining room into a nursey to accomodate his live in nurse.
As many limosine liberals who were given everything in their life, they actually believe that money does grow on trees. They feel sorry for those of us who have to work for a living and think higher taxes are justified even though they hurt those who are supposed to be helped by their socialist programs.
Dean has basically promised to repeal all of President Bush's tax cuts and even go beyond that to support his liberal agenda despite the fact that partially due to these despised tax cuts we are experiencing economic growth not experienced in 20 years. (20 years ago was also about a year after President Reagan's tax cuts).
Dean and his supporters are angry, bitter, and in some ways Anti-American. They hate the success of President Bush because they wrote him off as a dumb southerner. They have moved the Democratic party so far to the left that when their agenda is taken away from liberal bastions like New England, New York, and L.A. they will get trounced, and the once proud Democratic party will be a shell of itself.

He also supports price controls, higher taxes, increased federal role as a nanny state, and very strict environmental control.
You libs fly off the handle when we say someone is a socialist, but a majority of your buddies get away with calling Presidnet Bush dumb or a nazi or the like.
Here is an example of his socialism. This is directly from his web-site, Deanforamerica.com
For a year now, I have been traveling this country advocating a repeal of Bush's tax cuts so that we can provide universal healthcare and restore fiscal discipline. Many have questioned the political wisdom of challenging the president on politically popular tax cuts.
I believe, however, that given a choice between having health insurance or keeping all of the Bush's tax cuts in place, most Americans will choose health insurance. My plan will cost $88.3 billion -- less than half of the president's tax cut -- with money left over to pay down the deficits run up by this administration.
He neglects the fact that socialism doesn't work. Look at France, Germany, and the recent USSR. High unemployment, bloated government.
Thanks in part to over-generous vacations mandated by a central government, 10,000 people died during the heatwave in France.
I for one think it's insulting to have to rely on a government and other people's taxes for my healthcare. I work, pay my taxes, and supply myself with my own healtcare. Why should I have to pay for someone else's healtcare? (keep in mind that universal care also means rich guys like Bill Gates and Rush Limbaugh will be covered on my dime)

In other words, he has the same agenda as most Americans. Look at any poll.
By the way, I just got back last week from Canada, where I spent the holidays. Every Canadian I met is really happy, smokes weed, invited me to their brother's gay wedding, and is robustly healthy because of single payer.
There is no poverty or crime of any kind. The air is clean and fresh, and every single person is extremely well adjusted. People help old ladies across the street, and never have an unkind word for their neighbors.
Also, since we pay their defense budget, they have money to spend on social needs. What a great country.
Show me a legitimate poll, and I'll believe you. Nothing from moveon.org
People support lower taxes, national security, and freedom.
...apple pie, ozzie & harriet, the flag, starched white shirts, country music.
Then move to Canada then if it's so great.
But they also have consistently higher unemployment (currently 7.8%), taxes are astronomical, and they probably need to smoke week to kill the pain.
Canada also has a lot fewer people than the US, and significantly less industry. Their population is 31.5 million, versus the population of the US which is 292.3 million, almost 10 times theirs.
Average American disposable income, in American dollars, is about $25,000 versus $18,000 in Canada and about $16,000.
What good is univesal healthcare and cradle to grave care if you don't have money to spend on living life?
Also, besides hockey, what has Canada given the world? American free enterprise has given us most every imporant invention we use in life today.
My browser is whiggin out, I meant to say $16,000 in Germany and France for disposal income.
wouldn't median disposable income figures give a more accurate picture?
"Then move to Canada then if it's so great."
Hey, that sounds like Hitler.
Guess that means that Bush really is just like Hitler.
Mike,
Put the crack pipe down....
Put your hands up.....
Back away from the crack pipe....
Take deep breaths to clear your head...
If the Germans are doing so badly, how'd they manage to buy one of our car companies?
Sorry, but you 'murricans can't move to Canada. We're closing the boarder unless you agree to undergo a prostate exam because there's a suspicion your middle-aged males carry Mad Republican Disease, popularly known as Roniie's Brain Rot.
Howard Dean seems to me a reasonable and decent man. I guess that is why the US media is saying he's "unelectable" vs Shrub's being unelected.
I'm having myself smuggled over the border in a box car.
Tom - Since you bring up Canada giving the world hockey and nothing else of value I though you might also like to know that basketball was also invented by a Canadian. There was the telephone and the discovery of penecillin and stuff like that but I do not want to brag. There are great inventions and discoveries coming from all over the world. There may even be things more important than discretionary income (like good health for example).
Smuggling in a boxcar, I would rethink that, at the least there would be hobo spongebaths, and at the worst it would be like the beginning of "Human Cargo" or the second season of The Wire.
And I keep getting puzzled by this scurriliationment of "liberal"? They are the government and just conservatives with a different name. From here you in the States have two right wing parties, so what is the tsuris? After all, it's not like your vote makes a difference.
This country has been so hijacked by wackos that Martin's government looks ultra-leftist by comparison. It's getting critical here, man. We need the Canadian military to come in and affect some regime change. I'll help you make up the phoney WMD claims.
"despite the fact that partially due to these despised tax cuts we are experiencing economic growth not experienced in 20 years"
can you provide some links to back this up? I seem to remember a some kind of economic boom during the nineties, but I may be mistaken.
What I want to know is, are liberal lemmings warmer and fuzzier than conservative lemmings?
Though I am not now leaning toward Dean or any other Democratic candidate, Dean does seem more centrist than leftist - that anti-war thing has got to go, though. I want a Democrat with veins in his teeth.
I think Eric, if you want the anti-war to go (order it with a double-double and a donut, sorry), stop the phony war. Hey presto, no problemo.
How about sending the troops to root out the right-wing militias which are the biggest threat in the States?
Ask yourselves, do you want peace, order and good government, or the end of a long nightmare of peace and prosperity.
And how about that greenback declining? Way to go for my prosperity at your expense and giving the truth to lie about the economic recovery (admit it you right wing-nuts, it's not getting better, it's just getting less worse -- assholes).
"angry, bitter, and in some ways Anti-American"
*yawn*
Uhm, and that would be the New Democratic Party (oopps, sorry Canada only) so you are looking for the National Socailist Party? Geez, don't you Yanks have some sort of 12 step programme for these poor delusional citizens to get them sober before they stagger into a voting booth and have to confront a rigged machine in a sham election? And if the Dems become the same as the Reps, then what is the point of voting?
Dean and his supporters are angry, bitter, and in some ways Anti-American. They hate the success of President Bush because they wrote him off as a dumb southerner. Oh, one ohter thing, if New York City and Los Angeles are such hell holes, why do so many people want to live there?
Last I heard, people weren't queing up to live in East St. Louis or the suburbs of Anywhere Montana.
Or the entire state of North Dakota.
people don't live in north dakota for the same reason they don't live in, say, Moose Jaw...'cuz it's nut-chattering cold.
well, at least that's why i don't live there!
Hey, if you-all knew about the free nut-warmers we get in Canada, you'd all want to live here. Which is why we don't tell you about them. Plus they are paid by the government, it's part of our national health-care.
Excuse me, my nut-warmer is too toasty, I have to adjust it.
Jim, you silly, we know about those nut warmers, we just call them goats down here.
We also are aware, thanks to our nefarious intelligence apparatus, that the malfunctioning of said sack-snugglers is why there are so few Canadians.
that explains it! the time i visited montreal...the guys were walkin' kinda funny...very odd.
Speaking French causes you to walk funny as well.
This is directed to the moron who used the phrase "smoking crack"...Mike or whoever. What's wrong with crack? Democrats love crack! We all know that. Criminals smoke crack, correct? Well, everyone knows that Democrats love criminals. What do they argue? Prison overcrowding...sentences too long...child molesters don't really physically hurt anyone...guns do...y'know, all that stuff? So why would "mike" say something like this?
I was floored! That such an intellectual would portray the act of smoking crack in such a deragetory fashion! Wow...I guess Democrats ARE the hypocrites they're made out to be! I thought if you were a Democrat you were magically smarter. Y'know, like the criminals they love so much. After all, it's not their fault. NO ONE should be actually locked up for smoking crack. Thanks "mike"...you're brilliant! You should run for President. Or at least Mayor of Washington D.C...Hey...where's my pipe?
Wow Sonny never has such an old thread been rivived so badly for so little reason.
As you were, ya crackhead :-)

What are you smoking--crack? You look down the list of issues and at polling data and most Americans support the Democrats on the overwhelming majority of issues. The GOP rules in part because of its lock on the reactionary South, which has disproportionate representation in the Electoral College.
Howard Dean--on the far left? He supports managed care, is against gun control, and has an incredibly centrist agenda.
I'd switch to coffee if I were you. It doesn't affect your brain the way crack does--look what crack did to Al Barger--and it's much cheaper.
I'm sorry to see that muddled thinking has re-emerged on this board in my absence. I'm going to have to administer more discipline.
