Election Year 2004 Is Here! Let The Games Begin!

Proposal to make deal with Mexico concerning immigration.. Bush is gearing up trying to take votes now from wherever he can. Is anyone reminded just a little bit about the allowing illegal immigrants in California have driver's licenses?
In November, Secretary of State Colin Powell met in Washington with Mexican officials on the issue of cross-border migration, and raised the possibility that changes could be approved this year. In December, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said in Miami that the United States needed to "come to grips" with the millions of illegal immigrants and give them some kind of "legal status." Bush followed up at a year-end news conference, saying he was getting ready to send a recommendation to Congress.
Okay, someone please explain this to me... What about the illegals from Africa? Europe? The Middle East?
Oh wait, I forgot! They are not one of the populations one the rise in the United States. If you got the Swedish vote in America, I don't think that is going to make or break an election.
I just don't understand, if you do something illegal and you get caught then you need to be kicked out. I understood that when I went to the UK and was willing to accept the consequences if I had elected to stay.
"come to grips" with the millions of illegal immigrants and give them some kind of "legal status."
Okay, so we say this in 2004 and in 2005 when the jobs have still not really picked up and nothing has been done about the outsourcing of labor, then people are going to start hootin' and hollarin' about all the illegals. What? Where is the huge job surplus here so that they can be legally employed? Where is the booming, economic, powerhouse that is going to swallow these people? Let's not even get into the facts that a lot of states are having a hard enough time balancing their own budgets. Anyone seen the US Dollar versus the Euro?
But what has got to be the most disgusting thing about all of it?
The fact that this is being done for the vote in 2004. Seems to me there are a hell of a lot more pressing issues for the United States than this. One moment, you are putting fingerprint scanners and taking pictures to keep people out and now, you are trying to let certain people come in just so you can get votes.
My loathing has now turned into utter contempt and disgust. There is no fairness and justice in the United States government at this moment. The selected government has gone completely mad!
