Ray Davies shot

Ray Davies, lead singer of the Kinks, was shot in New Orleans Sunday evening. While walking with a "female companion" they were approached by two men who grabbed at the woman's purse. Davies pursued the thiefs and was shot in the leg by one of the two. He was treated and released from a nearby hospital. There's no word on whether, when shot, he exclaimed "You really got me! You got me so I don't know what I'm doin', yeah."

I applaud celebrities for doing whatever they can so that once a week there can be a report on their dealings with the law. In this case, I think the important lesson we should all learn is "The purse isn't worth it!"

(Unproductivity is worth it. Maybe.)

Guess he was showing off for the woman, an impulse that apparently doesn't fade with age or fame. I'm sure glad he received such minor injuries - he's got a long way to go to catch up with Fiddycent in the gunshot injury department, and don't even mention Rasputin.

Actually I kinda like him a bit more for doing that. Makes him seem more human.

The "female companion" wasn't named Lola, was she?

Hmmm. Now he can appear with 50 Cent.

Seriously, I'm down with Tom. If the assailants are in retreat, don't chase them.

LOL Joe! I was thinking the same thing as you:

She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said lola
L-o-l-a lola lo-lo-lo-lo lola

I didn't know if I was reading too much into the quotation marks.

New Orleans does seem the place to meet a Lola type, doesn't it? :-> But seriously, I admire his bravery and wish him well. I saw Ray in concert a couple of years ago in Indianapolis and he was charming.
