Gore's son arrested for pot possession

Former Vice President Al Gore's son, Albert Gore III, has been arrested for marijuana possession:

Two passengers were also arrested and charged with marijuana possession.

Police noticed the car's windows and sunroof were open, despite cold temperatures. There was also a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the police department.

More "news" about the drunk and/or drug abusing children of politicians. Ok, so Albert allegedly likes the chronic, but so do millions of other people out there. Let's just legalize and tax the weed and maybe, just maybe, this kind of thing will stop being news.

As for the driving under the influence part, if that turns out to be a charge, that is disturbing and demands a much stiffer penalty. Imagine if these alleged stoners hit somebody crossing the street because there were no headlights on, now that would be news. So if they didn't have a designated driver then I hope they throw the book at them.

If President Bush has a lush for a daughter, Clinton has a creative cigar dipping fetish, or former Vice President Gore has a stoner son, how much does this really impact their job performance?

I am with you on this one. The disturbing portion is that they were in a car.

Not his first offense, either. Get that bozo off the roads!

Um, why in the name of Tommy Chong would a person of his resources have to drive around in a car to smoke dope. He's an incredible dipshit, and at 21 there isn't much excuse. He isn't 16. No congressional career for you young man. Tipper, slap a warning label on the little pud.

"No congressional career for you young man."

I wouldn't bet on that. No amount of stupidity disqualifies someone from holding public office.

Yeah the driving while stoned bit is the most important part of this story, not the fact he was stoned. Doubt it would hurt any political career however (the pot part), he could just refer to it as a "youthful indiscretion".

Of course, it would be nice if he came out for the legalisation of pot in the process, but I rather doubt that will happen. His mother would probably disown him for one thing.
