He was on Low and that live album they did in the mid 90s. Then he left the band for bit and came back for The Gathering.

Chris, thanks for fact-checking me. Which one was he on of Testament's? I can't seem to remember.

Chuck Schuldiner started Death, but James Murphy did play guitar on Death's Spiritual Healing album. Murphy also appeared on albums from Cancer, Malevolent Creation, Obituary, Gorguts, Solstice, and a few other albums. He was in Testament too, although not on the album that's linked to this story. He also had a one-off project band called Disincarnate which was really good. He's a great guitarist, and I hope he's able to recover successfully.

Is this the guy who started Death? Because that guy already died from cancer a few years ago.

Comment by Tom Johnson on Death metal guitarist suffers brain tumour

God, he's still suffering with that? I remember hearing about that a couple years ago, and then that he'd gotten treatment. I heard nothing after that and assumed he was given a clean bill of health. This is one of those times when, if you haven't had to deal with massive medical problems either yourself or with a family member, you really realize how crappy the system is. I wish him luck.
