He was on Low and that live album they did in the mid 90s. Then he left the band for bit and came back for The Gathering. ]]>

Chuck Schuldiner started Death, but James Murphy did play guitar on Death's Spiritual Healing album. Murphy also appeared on albums from Cancer, Malevolent Creation, Obituary, Gorguts, Solstice, and a few other albums. He was in Testament too, although not on the album that's linked to this story. He also had a one-off project band called Disincarnate which was really good. He's a great guitarist, and I hope he's able to recover successfully. ]]>

God, he's still suffering with that? I remember hearing about that a couple years ago, and then that he'd gotten treatment. I heard nothing after that and assumed he was given a clean bill of health. This is one of those times when, if you haven't had to deal with massive medical problems either yourself or with a family member, you really realize how crappy the system is. I wish him luck. ]]>
