"Fingers" friends come out in support
Published December 22, 2003
CMU reports:
Celebrity friends of Michael Jackson have shown their support for the singer
post-child abuse charges by attending a pre-Xmas bash at his Neverland Ranch. Comedian Eddie Griffin and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest were among those who attended the party, seemingly designed to show the level of support for Jacko as he prepares to fight the child abuse charges officially made last week.
Elsewhere in Jacko news, authorities are playing down reports that the singer will be refused entry into the UK, where he plans to spend Christmas. Santa Barbara police returned Jacko's passport last week so the singer can come to Britain to promote his greatest hits album. Some MPs and child welfare groups here reportedly argued Jackson should not be allowed into the UK given the current allegations against him. However the Home Office has refused to comment on Jackson's case, except to say he will be treated the same as anyone else with regards entry into the country. Insiders reckon that there is no case to block his entry because he is yet to found guilty of any of the allegations made against him. All that said, The Sun reckons Jackson will call off his trip to Britain after fears of a media backlash against him here.
Finally on the Jacko front, in a Billboard survey 62% of the 10,263 music fans polled have said they continue to listen to Jackson's music despite the latest allegations made against him. Of the other 38%, 24% said they never had listened to Jacko's hits. Only 14% said they had stopped listening to his music since the latest allegations came to light.
