Thunder Happens

I went to this coffee house called Penny Lane in Boulder on open mic night last week, which led me to discover a new band. It was mostly young musicians doing folk originals and the array of talent was impressive.
About an hour into the open mic, some guy wearing a really cool Frank Zappa shirt got onstage and played the hell out of the guitar and sang like a crazed man. Later I met this extraordinary musician by the name of Travis Warren, and discovered he was a member of the band Killwatt.
This band was formed in August of 2003, and their cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” is very moving in that it has a haunting, murky introduction and stunningly quiet and seductive guitar work. Travis’s voice could be compared to a cross between Jeff Buckley and Perry Farrell in which you can feel the soul coming through loud and clear.
Credit goes to Gary Gladson for excellent guitar ambience, Dave Abbott on bass, and Brian Freeman on drums. This cover is definitely worth owning with two other songs for a low, low price of five dollars.

Your not kidding Jane! I have been a fan of Travis in Killwatt and his other projects for a while. That guy can sing.

He's incredible. I'm glad I got the chance to see him play that night.
Thanks Gary! (I don't know how I missed your comment from January).
We hope to hear more from Killwatt soon.
