Two Wrongs Make a Right

While I really, honestly can't support murder, there is some sense of justice in this for me. I guess the rule for me is that I can't murder anyone, but when someone else commits the ultimate evil and someone else subsequently takes matters in their own hands, I won't complain too much.
Molesting priest beaten to death
- LEXINGTON, Kentucky (AP) --A retired Roman Catholic priest who admitted molesting three altar boys in 1995 was found beaten to death at his home, police said Saturday.
Joseph Pilger, 78, was found dead in his home Friday night. An autopsy Saturday found the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Fayette County coroner. The death is being investigated as a homicide.
Pilger lived alone until the past month, when a young man began staying with him, said his neighbor, Karen Owens. Owens said Pilger's car, which had been at his home earlier in the day, was missing Friday night.
Pilger pleaded guilty to sexual abuse in 1995 for abusing three altar boys in 1968 and 1969, when he was their pastor in Morganfield in western Kentucky. He was sentenced to five years' probation beginning in January 1995.
Earlier this year, Pilger was named in a sex-abuse lawsuit against the dioceses of Lexington and Covington. Pilger declined to comment on the allegation.
Not quite an eye for an eye, but it seems kind of close.

I was saying molestation is the ultimate evil in this case. I think it probably fits the standards for classification as a type of torture, so we can agree.
It appears to be open season on pedophile priests - the Church and the judicial system better pay attention and start punishing acordingly or there are going to be a bunch of dead priests laying around. People start taking matters into their own hands when they don't think the system is reflecting their values.

While I deplore child molestation with every fiber in my being, I don't think I can condone this kind of cold-blooded murder. I would feel better if it would have happened in prison (although that makes very little moral sense, I admit), although the fact that he didn't get prison (maybe too old?) might have contributed to this. It would appear someone felt the system didn't work and took matters into his (I assume) own hands - very ugly all the way around.
