Willie Nelson: Against War and Death

New song and music video from Willie Nelson called "Jimmy's Road." With just Willie singing and backing himself on guitar, the song is a spare folkish story of "Jimmy" from childhood to soldier to casualty. I guess it works okay as a song - I am predisposed to like Willie's music - but I am not sure what the message is, since there is clearly supposed to be a message on a site called "peace."

Would there be "peace" if there were no soldiers, in particular no American soldiers? I think perhaps there would be quite a bit less peace than there is now if all the potential subjugators, land-grabbers, tyrants and despots, fascists and religious fanatics had no one to hinder their most pernicious desires and impulses.

Don't know if there would be peace if there were no soldiers (since no country has ever had the balls to try it), but there will definitely be war if there are soldiers.
On a side note, Willie's "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground" is one hellava song, definitely better than anything that Toby Hick has ever written.
