"I didn't have as much practice skiing as the governor did. He was out there skiing while I was recovering from my wounds in Vietnam."

General Wesley Clark, in a radio interview in New Hampshire, after being asked if he was a good skier. As always, Howard Dean makes his persona as unappealing as possible in response: "I took a physical, I failed a physical. If that makes this an issue, so be it."

This kind of riposte by Dean to questions about his nature, background, and character make him unelectable. He is McGovern with an M.D., Dukakis sans helmet.

He should have taken an even higher road. Dean could have said something like,

"There is nothing I would have been happier to do than to have served my country like the honorable Wesley Clark. Did I mention that I support the troops even though I don't agree with the war?"

Rand knows I'm no fan of Dean, but I don't see how this particular statement is any kind of issue- particularly since Dean is anti-military anyway.

Lord, I must partly agree with Barger. A fairly bland comment like that is hardly grounds for criticism. Let's not forget that most persons with political stars in their eyes avoided the Vietnam War one way or another, including the current occupant of the White House.

And, for the record, I'm still undecided about which candidate I will support for president.

Really? I'm thinking this proves I was wrong about the existence of a god.

It depends on which side of the fence you're sitting on.

Really Natalie, I would think this would reinforce your nominal Christianity- the lion shall lie down with the lamb, and all that.

As to which would be the lion and the lamb between Mac Diva and I...

What? Did I hear correctly? Al and MD are laying down... Can it be true love at first bite? This is all too much. I can't take it any more! Ahahahahahah!

What, have you guys missed every romantic movie ever made? How do they all begin? How do they all end?

I wasn't carrying it out that far - how do romantic comedies begin and end? That's what I was getting at.
