I don't care about being politically incorrect, but I do care about being factually incorrect. The ROC ended up in Taiwan while the Communist movement gained control of the majority of the country. So, the statement is true - Sine the civil war that splin Taiwan from China. The civil war lead to one political structure looking for safehaven from another. I just didn't get into the detailed history and story of Sun Wen, USSR and Communist China.

politically incorrect: "Since the civil war that split Taiwan from China in 1949" Communist China (Peoples Rep of China) revolted-split from Nationalist China (Rep of China) with the Nationalist government with control only remaining on "Formosa" Taiwan. The "Republic of China" was the true heir of Sun Yat- Sen's government

Just an update to this story, Taiwan has backed down on the bill they passed. It turns out that most of the provision were defeated on Thursday night.
