Martine hits LA and is compared to J Lo

London Spy reports:

Martine McCutcheon's rise from cockney soap star to big screen love interest has been remarkably swift. Why? According to the girl herself, it's all down to bad publicity.

"All the nasty press that I had during the My Fair Lady run [during which she was often too unwell to take the stage] was the best thing that ever happened to me," she tells Spy. "The newspapers kept writing about me as Eliza Doolittle, and they gradually forgot to mention me as Tiffany from EastEnders. Being distanced from that role paved the way for me to do Love Actually. It just goes to show that there's no such thing as bad press."

It now looks as if our Martine may jump ship for Hollywood. "I've been going out to LA recently for lots of meetings and they've had a really positive attitude," she adds. "They've even told me that I'm England's answer to Jennifer Lopez."

Marty's band, Growing Old Disgracefully, can be found at: Disgraceful Music. His Cthulhu tales can be found at Temple of Dagon.

England's answer to JLO? Is that supposed to be a good thing? Martine! Martine! Martine! What terribly low standards you aim to achieve. Typical, I guess! The only reason I have not seen Love actually seeing as I love Hugh Grant, is precisely because it has Martine in it. I'll wait for its network premiere when theres nothing else to watch on the box.
