While Jacko was being charged with child abuse in Santa Barbara, across
state Phil Spector was being formally charged with murder. The charges
relate to the mysterious death of b-movie actress Lana Clarkson at Spector's
home earlier this year. Spector claims her death was suicide, but police
investigations reckon he pulled the trigger. Although officially charged
Spector remains free on a $1m bail and awaits the date of his first court
hearing. If convicted of first-degree murder Spector could face a maximum
penalty of life in prison.
