You bring up a good point. I guess I would start giving an event like that more credit once I saw it on the network news stations.

Seeing as how "suit-happy" America is today there is no way Fox News or CNN would publish a story like that unless there was some truth to it.

having heard of this before (altho i thought it was some of the uk not the usa. Maybe it happened in both countries?), when i watched Dawn Of The Dead, with the emergency news broadcasts about the zombie plague, i couldn't help thinking of The War Of The Worlds.
Y'know what'd make a cool publicity stunt for a zombie film now would be to get something like that on tv - have the official news programmes replaced (might cost a lot tho lol)
Dawn Of The Dead had a particular plot bit i found real interesting - the zombie plague still hadn't seemingly reached everywhere in the us yet, in fact there were enough untouched areas that many people didn't believe it was real.
Imagine if there really were something like that, or an alien invasion, to happen that didn't straight away involve the entire world, or for that matetr whatever country you are in. Now say you were somewhere that wasn't affected, but you saw it on tv. Would you believe it straight away, unquestioningly? would you think it some kind of massive practical joke? what would it take for you to believe it?
