Soul singer Arthur Conley, best known for his 1967 hit 'Sweet Soul Music',
has died at home in Holland aged 57. A protege of Otis Redding, Conley had
been suffering from intestinal cancer for some time. Born in Atlanta, Conley
started his recording career in 1959 as leader of the group Arthur and the
Corvets. He co-wrote 'Sweet Soul Music' with Redding and had several minor
hits of his own in the following two years.
