Courtney Love, who knows trouble when she sees it in the mirror, pleaded innocent to two felony drug charges after subjecting reporters to a tirade of dubious coherency:
- The complaint against the 39-year-old singer-actress said she illegally possessed two painkillers when she was treated at a hospital for an Oct. 2 overdose. The two painkillers, hydrocodone and oxycodone, can be prescribed legally. "I didn't even break a law. I didn't even shoplift," Love said Wednesday before the hearing at Beverly Hills Municipal Court.
She called the charges "retarded."
....Love's attorney, William Genego, told The Associated Press that Love had not intentionally overdosed but rather had taken the wrong medication by mistake. Genego said Love turned over a bag of pills to police after they were called to her home. The drug charges stem from Love not having a prescription for three pills in the bag, Genego said.
Carrying her pet beagle, Molly, and a bouquet of red roses, Love rambled to reporters Wednesday about missing money, an affair with a married man and throwing a sleeping pill at a police officer.
"Don't tell," said Love, whose past heroin use was widely reported. "It's a big secret I used to do drugs."
Judge Elden Fox scheduled a preliminary hearing for Dec. 11. He instructed Love to meet with Santa Monica probation officials to assess her suitability for a drug diversion program.
If she is found eligible, Love could plead guilty, undergo counseling and pay administrative fees, and her plea would be erased after two years, Fox said. [AP]

I don't think Courtney's a first-rate anything. Wack-job, as Craig put it mildly, is certainly what she's best at, though.
Yeah... it's neck and neck between "wack-job" and "being a chemical dependent." That really might be what she is absolutely best at. Or maybe it is "being my generation's Yoko." So many things to choose from.
the big questions, though, are how does she get away with it, and why does anyone care?
I think the picture above touches on all of these issues: shocking, scary, but with great cheekbones
Yeah, except that Yoko has more than one good song.
Seriously.
I'm serious.
Why are you laughing?
I could have cheekbones like that if I went on the heroin diet. I swear Atkins doesn't have shit on the heroin diet.
oh, I like Courtney better as a musician than Yoko. I like a lot of songs on Live Through This and Celebrity Skin, and she is a good actress. She was heartbreaking in People vs. Larry Flynt and just right in Man On the Moon.
She isn't without talent or appeal, she's just really fucked up.
Craig, the heroin diet just reveals the cheekbones, they have to be there in the first place

Did you ever see Kurt and Courtney, the documentary that hinted at Courtney's involvement in Kurt's death? I mean, I saw it and honestly, I don't really buy it, but it's interesting nonetheless. Courtney is a first-rate wack-job. If you really want to know about Courtney Love, Billy Corgan would probably be a good place to start.
