With such a consistent response to the high upgrade price, don't you suppose the lesson might be that the upgrade price actually is too high? *sigh* No, I do not. you make my point so well.

All i know is that I want to borrow someone's copy who received it today or yesterday; so I can install it *today*; and not have to wait until mine is delivered *tomorrow*. Yes, I'm a geek. So what?

Yes you can "upgrade" from OS 9 to Panther. That is why i put upgrade in quotes in my post. its a full price. Jaguar, Panther, they are nice like Service Packs. And I do not think they should be free upgrades. I am very happy paying for all the new features and enhancements. Why is it that no one likes the onions :p

So, if I'm OS 9xx can I get go straight to Panther? And, yes, $129 is high for an upgrade and I'm a big Mac lover (hold the cheese and onions).

I dunno. I don't pay full price for Apple software upgrades either because I do some adjunct teaching. But, if I did pay full price, maybe I would complain. For most people, we are talking two $129 upgrades in two years, plus whatever they pay for .Mac.

If there's anything that makes we wince, it's whining about something before there's anything to whine about. But I can fix that for you: the price of the upgrade is too high.
