Next to my turntable are a leaning stack of discs that get played so often that there's no point returning them to their proper place in the crates, because I'll just get them out again. Funny how several shared that New Wave/CBGB scene -- or at least milieu -- that Bill describes. One is the B-52s first two discs, another is Talking Heads' More Songs About Buildings and Food, another is Lou Reed's Street Hassle, and another is Marquee Moon.

I first heard the title cut and "Prove It" on an Elektra promo compilation I picked up from a used record store, and both songs quickly became favorites. The record itself also features another great cut called "Elevation."

I haven't picked up the new remastered CD yet, but the entire work itself is a guitar-based record like no other, with both Verlaine and Richard Lloyd swapping immaculate solos most of the way through. Hypnotic, as Bill said -- from start to finish.

Bill, you're up (or will be soon) on Cleveland.com as part of the Advance beta. I edited "a fucked-up" for newspaper consumption. Thanks!

On my list of personal favorites; Marquee Moon is one of the greatest albums of all-time. Very Hypnotic! I constantly reach for this album. I always recommend it to people who really want to hear something good. Those angular guitars, great songs, the lyrics, the long jams, Verlaines melodic make your hair stand voice(nothing like it)! totally influential to those who really care.... It's a shame Television couldn't stay together a bit longer. I hear they're playing some shows this year and may go into the studio. They need a good live release;what's out does not do them justice. To me they were the best of the bunch back then. It wasn't even close.
