Alias 3.01

After nearly 5 months, JJ Abrams has rewarded us with a follow up to season two's "What the...?!" finale last May. While it's been a long summer waiting for the show to return, I have to hand it to the man who also brought us the weepy drama Felicity. Not a lot was answered in 3.01, but we've got some exciting new leads. Jack was put in jail for trying to find his daughter by collaborating with her mother. Vaughan did indeed remarry, and boy is Sidney pissed at him for moving on so fast. Assistant Director Kendall has moved out and Dixon's moved in. Sloan seems to have had a 180 on the whole killing people and selling arms business. Apparently, all that Rimbaldi crap was leading up to a happy happy joy joy message of "Peace" for all. Sloan now heads up a World Health Organization and has personally fed over 3 million children. Ain't he great?
Will is still alive, no sign of Francie, and while we know Jack was collaborating with Irina, she's not in the ep either.
There's a new group that we don't know too much about, called the Covenant, but the main theme of the season opener is "The Bitch Is Back." Pretty much, Sid doesn't know what she's been doing over the last two years, but everything's changed and it's making her MAD.
Jack does have some evidence for her, from a year old surveillance video. It shows a blonde, leathered up Sidney cutting the throat of a dignitary. Sidney, who had no qualms about shooting thugs in an abandoned warehouse setup in France, seems visibly distressed at her assassin behaviour, and now we have to wait with baited breath another week to see what happens next on the best unwatched show on TV.

Since just before last season's finale, I have believed that the Rambaldi device enables Sloane to see the future. I'm still convinced of it. Think about conversations he had with Jack about "If I had known..." and now him having things available for Sidney before she even asks. Mark my words...
