Shut up!
Published September 26, 2003
Arghh. Too busy in the real world and didn't even notice until now that today is Talk Like Bill O'Reilly Day. In honor of this great holiday, the play-only version of the crawlaway bestseller Fair & Balanced is free, just for today until midnight (Pacific Time).
In case you've been living under a rock or something and have not heard about this earth-shattering publication, Fair & Balanced is a play in which conservative TV personality Bill O'Reilly is subjected to some really horrible things. It was released about one month ago today.
You can read about the play at the website of the publisher, Fair Use Press. You can also download the ($5) full version of the book there--100 pages, including the photo essay on pro-war demonstrators, the sheet music for the song that ends the play, and other stuff. (If you buy the full version, the profits go directly toward the Google Ads campaign that makes an ad for this play appear when people search for "Bill O'Reilly," "Fox News" and similar search terms. So far, 24,123 people who searched Google for "Bill O'Reilly" have been offered an opportunity to purchase Fair & Balanced.)
But here's the free version, just the play, 48 pages, with certain pages at the start missing (because of the large graphics), but you'll figure it out:
Download "Fair & Balanced" (PDF, 300K)
PC: Right-click to download
MAC: Option-click to download
It is formatted as an e-book. You can read it with Adobe Reader or any other PDF app.
Enjoy Talk Like Bill O'Reilly Day.
Oh, and shut up!
[Oh, and why I wrote the play.]
[Oh, and of course thanks to Natalie Davis who led me to Atrios, which is how I found out that today is Talk Like Bill O'Reilly Day.]

Granted that O'Reilly is an ASS. I further note that Franken is a hero of mine.
Still, Brian has bitched repeatedly about how the evil right wingers just want to make personal attacks and shut down debate. Indeed, conservatives just like to shout "SHUT UP [comment #171]" at poor, beleaguered liberals...
And then he put up posts like this one.

I did a simple value comparison of Franken and O'Reilly's books. Both retail for $24.94. Lies is 374 pages and includes a cartoon. Who's Looking is 210 pages and seems skimpier.
They were next to each other at Stacey's bookstore in San Francisco for easy comparison.
