Velvet Revolver news

Last weeks update on the VELVET REVOLVER's RCA deal raised some eyebrows and prompted more questions. Turns out that VR frontman Scott Weiland and his band STONE TEMPLE PILOTS owe three more records to Atlantic. Word on the street is that RCA has made a deal with Atlantic for Scotts participation in VR. This raises more questions as to the finer points of the arrangement. Stay tuned. As previously reported, Velvet Revolver are currently in the studio doing pre-production work for their upcoming RCA debut, tentatively due in early 2004. Velvet Revolvers lineup features Scott Weiland (vocals/STP), Dave Kushner (DAVE MAVARRO) and former GUNS N ROSES bandmates Slash (guitar), Duff McKagan (bass) and Matt Sorum (drums). Guitarist SLASH's official website (www.snakepit.org) has been updated with the following news: "The November 2003 issue of Guitar World is out for subscribers. There is a LOT of Velvet Revolver coverage in this one. First, the three guitarists are on the cover with Duff and Dave flanking Slash in the foreground. Scott appears in a small color inset. There's a black and white Slash poster in the center of the magazine! Slash has one larger-sized picture in color... with sunglasses. The caption on that picture is interesting. It says, The last incarnation of Snakepit was just a huge mess; as much as I liked it, I was all f**ked up- I almost killed myself drinking too much - and I had a lot going on. - Slash. He talks about how the guys in the last Snakepit were always having to be gotten out of jail for stupid shit. He said one of the guys was strung out. A reliable country music fan source tells us that the Number 1 single on the Billboard Country Single chart, It's Five O'Clock Somewhere, by Alan Jackson with Jimmy Buffett will ring a bell with Snakepit fans. According to this country fan, the song is about a rock star who goes into a bar to get a drink, but the bartender says he can't serve him yet as they don't start serving till 5 o'clock. In the end, he says...it's five o'clock somewhere and the rocker gets served. We're looking for a copy of this single if anyone can help track one down. Thanks.
