Spector pulled the trigger

CMJ reports:

Eight months on and the LA County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau has finally
reported on its investigations into the fatal shooting of actress Lana Clarkson at the home of Phil Spector in February, and it isn't good news for the legendary producer. Lt. Dan Rosenberg told reporters his men had ruled out accidental death and suicide stating "we believe a crime occurred". Homicide Bureau Captain Frank Merriman was less subtle telling the LA Times: "Phil Spector shot her."

LA prosecutors will now analyse the police's case before deciding whether or
not to file criminal charges. Sandi Gibbons of the district attorney's office said "We have a substantial amount of material to help us determine how to proceed," adding a decision should be made later this week.

Speculation has been rife as to the events leading up to the shooting of the b-movie actress that night. In an interview with Esquire magazine earlier this year Spector claimed Clarkson had shot herself adding "she kissed the gun, I have no idea why".

His is bizarre and amazing - I am extremely curious to hear the evidence regarding the case: if they charge him, they probably have a good case.

I'll bet you half the music industry is muttering" "What goes around, comes around." No denying Spector's genius, but he treated those singers like slaves and he put Ronnie Spector through hell. Did you know the great Darlene Love signed away her rights to her records and was reduced to cleaning houses just to get by? Spector wasn't just a master of production -- he was a master of exploiting talented young people too; people who sang like angels and didn't have enough sense to come in out of the rain when it came to royalties.

The real question is, why is it taking so long to charge brilliant but notorious psycho Spector with murder? It came as no surprise to anyone. Lana Clarkson's family must be beyond their wits' end.
