Not many people are exposed to extremely high volume noise for nights on end like musicians on tour. People who work in the music business often get it worse. I went to gigs, often more than one a night, between three and seven nights a week for the best part of twenty years. Fortunately I seem to have the constitution of an ox and appear to have come through the experience relatively unscathed. So far!

Many musicians wear earplugs when gigging to protect their ears from the high volume noise they're making!

I took a girl to a Violent Femmes show a month ago. She wore earplugs and I haven't called her since. Wearing earplugs to a rock 'n' roll show has to be the ultimate in nerdiness.
