Seems he did not wish to attend a church where he was not equal - imagine that! Being a former mormon, I also recall the racist teachings. Discrimination against any group of people for whatever reason is wrong. Needless to say, my children (who are part African-American) were not subjected to the teachings of the mormon 'church'.
