Crazy 8's and Spades all time best card games, but depending on the players Spades can become hazardous to your health, even online. Taboo is a wonderful game to play with 3 or more people. I love Chess (not checkers) but you must have a worthy opponent or its just checkers with rules.

Card games can be a lot of fun. Chess is a good thinking game. That Deep Junior vs. Kasparov match earlier this year was exciting.

Post script: I must confess...I liked playing Acquire. I found that on Amazon, and I remembered it was pretty fun. Maybe I prefer the idea of being a corporate mogul than the idea of being a military dictator.
