Craveman
Ted Nugent
(Spitfire)
Often ignored for his forthright right-of-centre opinions, Ted continues to produce music and tour. Much of his output over the last decade or more has been pretty patchy at best. This has all changed with this effort. Craveman is 14 tracks of damn good hard rock. The angst and anger give the music an edge that raises it above the normal sex and rock & roll you come to expect from the man. The opening track shows you where this is headed. It really gets going with the excellent 'Damned if you Do', when the bloke doesn't even sound like himself. There are still his sex-obsessed rockers like 'Pussywhipped' and 'Wang Dang Doodle', but they don't distract from the fact that the music on here is some of his best in a long time. Rest assured, this is Ted Nugent; it's just a Ted tweaked for the realities of the 21st century. Will it win him many new fans? Probably not, but it should bring a few of his old ones back into the fold. Boy, does the bloke rock!
