GTR
(King Biscuit)
GTR, a mid-80s supergroup that featured Steve Howe (Yes) and Steve Hackett (ex-Genesis), released one stunning album, toured, and fell apart due to business conflicts. This is a recording, made for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, of the band performing in LA on their one and only tour. As with any good live album, you bloody well wish you were there. The band play most of their debut album as well as covers of 'Roundabout' by Yes and 'I know what I Like'' by Genesis. As you would expect from players such as the two Steves, the musicianship is frankly stunning. The 14 tracks are a master class on how to play prog live. Included in this collection is a new song called 'Prizefighters,' which is presumably destined for their second album. The CD ends with their top-40 hit, the amazing 'When the Heart Rules the Mind'. If you have GTR on vinyl or cassette and want to upgrade, don't bother with the album, just get this live offering. Oh yes, and its less than a tenner to purchase.
