Janey isn't porn-star/California gubernatorial candidate Mary Carey, but Mary may soon find out what author Candace Bushnell recently pointed out about what characters in her new book may find out about sex being used for power over men not working anymore.

Of course, when sex is nearly everywhere in the modern world, it shouldn't be a wonder that it isn't to anyone reading this book.

Bushnell's new novel is called Trading Up and it entails anti-heroine Janey Wilcox, a Victoria Secret model who gets ahead by sleeping with men and befriends women for the same purpose.

It's a good read, showing the darker side of using unethical and sexual means to climb further up the career-ladder.

Women who think they can change men by sleeping with them or who think they can get them to do something or act a certain way by sleeping with them should definitely read this book, as should anyone else who tries to get ahead using means that are shady, dishonest or unethical.

Sex, once a sacred thing that was only shared by a man and a woman who are deeply in love, appears in this book as a torrid overly misused power-tool that leads to self-destruction.

It's unfortunate that this piece of fiction often rings true in our modern world.
