Don't open it you fool!
Published August 20, 2003
Flargh over at Tikkabik rants at PC users who, as a result of inate stupidity or ignorance, are spreading the lastest vile worm. All the techies I know have been flat-out, cleaning up this latest mess. Ironically enough, a lot of the Mac techies I know, have had to help their PC friends with this too.
Times like these remind me that while I don't get the latest uber-games (sometimes ever), there are some perks to using a Mac.
Once more with feeling: If you don't expect to recieve an attachment. Don't open anything!

People who don't really understand the protocols shouldn't be administering or writing mail servers.
And that includes Microsoft themselves.
I was fooled into looking for an attachment when there wasn't one - purged now after a couple hours of downloading, scanning and scouring. This stupid, pointless shit has to end - what does anyone get out of doing this to people and the systme at large?
Marty, in the interest of being a nice girl (actually Natalie puts me to shame when it comes to that), I posted how to avoid the virus to Mac-a-ro-nies. We Mac users have a duty to help Wintel folks.

Marty's band, Growing Old Disgracefully, can be found at:

I hear it's pretty dire.
I'd like to take this opportunity to roundly curse all the programmers and mail-admins (on whatever platform) who can't tell an "envelope-sender" from a "from:" and forward the entire active virus to some innocent third-party who was in the faked "from:" header.
I've received more virus as part of misdirected "bounces" than I have direct viruses.
