"Phish bassist Mike Gordon, 38, was arrested Monday, August 11th, on charges of child endangerment after he was found with a nine-year-old girl in a secluded boathouse during a show by the Dead in Jones Beach, New York. ... Gordon was charged with a misdemeanor count of
child endangerment and trespassing. ... The uninjured child was reunited with her family shortly after Gordon's arrest. According to New York's WNBC television, Gordon told police that he was taking 'art photos' of the girl." (08/18/03)

as much as i would like to believe that it was all innocent, it doesn't really look that way.

however, media tends to twist and blow things out of porportion.

A shame all around.

peace.

Marty, you trumped me. I was just going to report this. I am not a fan of Phish, but this is completely sketchy and disturbing. I realize there are chances that it was all innocent, but this seems like a bad situation for any person to willingly put themselves into.

yeah, i don't listen to Phish... but I do listen to Leo Kottke and he and Gordon did a great cd together.

peace.

Good thing he's not the lead singer; sounds like the Hell's Angels might have made a soprano out of him, the idiot.

A joint statement from Mike Gordon, the
girl's family, and Elektra Records
states: "We have had several discussions
regarding the situation that occurred at
Jones Beach. It is now clear to all
involved that this was an unfortunate
misunderstanding, and we look forward
to putting this matter behind us."

'nuff said

Glad to hear it, thanks.

just because i love mike so much, and because this was on the 2nd page of a google search for scott campbell over a year after this happened, the girl's parents later on actually did say that it was all a misunderstanding, and no charges were pressed (i think the guys that may have roughed him up a bit didn't know that he knew her parents prior etc...)
