Arnold's problem
Published August 10, 2003
Regarding the problems that actor Arnold Schwarzenegger might have in running for governor, Democrat political consultant David Axelrod has framed it perfectly:
"This isn't the movies. No one is going to throw him a ray gun so he can blow up the deficit."
On the other hand, there IS a school of philosophical thought which holds that there is no problem which cannot be solved by a sufficient charge of explosives. I've yet to see this theory disproven.
Exactly where is that pesky deficit at, anyway? Miuzi Weighs A Ton.

Al Qaeda et al are idiots. They're largely just randomly blowing people up. That's no good. It makes a difference what or who exactly you are blowing up.
And oh yes, a sufficient dose of explosives can solve a lot of problems, regardless of candy-ass "liberal" philosophy. The most blunt example, Japan. Two bombs put an end to WWII.
Now you might want to argue that this was very harsh, or unnecessary. I don't entirely know what to think on that myself.
However, you can't very well argue that it didn't work.

Gosh, I thought that was the philosophy of Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups. And while it is good at killing people, it doesn't solve problems.
