Celebrity - Lovesick

Melodic music that is moody and brooding like the namesakes The Cure and other pop radio icons kind of describes Celebrity and their excellent release Lovesick. The opener "Remember Us" sets the tone for most of the album with jangley guitars and depressive lyrics. I don't know much about this band but can tell you this is quality material from an excellent band. Lance Black's vocals remind me of days of when Toad the Wet Sprocket and Black Lab ruled the indie kids at universities and moping coffee shops everywhere. I like the track "Dead Superstars" and the mellow to fast tempo "Average", but in reality all the songs are in the same vein of distorted guitar and dark tunes. Celebrity really found their groove on "Sundown", which was my favorite song on this release. What more can be said, except if you enjoy mellow rock with an edge then Celebrity might be your bag.
