In David Talbot's piece in Salon on Arianna's probable run, he writes:
Huffington told the gathering that she has also won key Green Party support, with Peter Camejo, the party's recall candidate, agreeing to drop out and back her after she announces. "He told me that now is the time for the Green Party to be part of a winning campaign to change the political structure." Camejo won 5 percent of the vote running against Davis last year, and with some analysts predicting the next governor could be elected with a mere 20 percent of the vote, that's a significant base for Huffington.
This is contradicted by an email the Camejo campaign sent out this
afternoon:
Mon, 28 Jul 2003 4:11 PM CAMEJO FOR GOVERNOR: Quick update on HuffingtonHi folks, I wanted to get you a quick update on the Huffington situation. We've gotten a lot of questions about this recently. Peter will be sending out a more detailed report on his meeting with her in a few days, but for now let me say this: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES will Peter drop out of the race if Arianna runs. We have put too much work into this campaign already, and Peter is a Green Party candidate. Arianna is registered Decline-to-State, and has not been active with the Green Party. Peter just filed his candidacy
papers today. All we have done is BEGIN discussions about POSSIBLY working
together if she enters the race. There are a number of things that would have to happen for that scenario to take place. and it could happen in a variety of ways. And Arianna has not yet firmly decided whether she will run. Please forward this to anyone you think needs to know, and if you are not receiving it as a subscriber to our Topica-hosted newsletter, please join. You can enter your e-mail address on the front page of the website, www.votecamejo.org.

It isn't a joke, but it is unlikely since she'll have to deal with the same obscrtuctive Republican minority Davis does.
The only chance for real transformation is if by a mirable she got elected and then even more miraculously she got re-elected along with legislators who would support her policies.
But then who thought a b-grade actor would be elected?

"If Arianna succeeds, you'll see a transformation of California's politics on the order of what Hiram Johnson accomplished when he was elected governor in 1910, driving the Southern Pacific railroad lobby from the halls of the Capitol and turning California into a beacon of progressivism for years."
That's a joke right? We are talking about Arianna Huffington, aren't we?
