The Violet Burning This Is The Moment

This album is fairly straightforward. Alternative rock from one of the most prolific alt.rock bands in the Christian market for the past 10 years. This is their 7th release and fans of the band will not be dissapointed. This cd does a good job of following up their previous album, "Faith and Devitions of a Satellite Heart", while adding a bit more crunch and accessability to some of the songs, as was more prominent on "Demonstrates Plastic and Elastic".

This won't be an easy album for new-comers to "get". Most people won't get it until they have an opportunity to see The Violet Burning live. A live show is very intimate and personal. After a live concert, the cds take on a new form and become a new and beautiful creation.

Michael Pritzl is the main man behind the band. The backing members rotate regularly as other prolific artists in the CCM industry. This cd features Sam West (formerly of Stavesacre) on drums and Andrew Prickett (having been in The Prayer Chain, Cush, and others) on guitar.

The easy, lazy comparisson would be U2. It's also the most accurate. Which is odd because I cannot stand U2 most of the time, yet The Violet Burning remains one of my favorites.

So see The Violet Burning live. Then buy their entire still-in-print discography. If you regret it, feel free to send me flaming hate notes.

peace.
