White Stripes shows postponed
Published July 16, 2003
Just as I remembered that I am going to see the White Stripes in less than a week, I spot this story on Yahoo! LAUNCH:
The White Stripes have been forced to postpone the next several weeks of their tour in support of their fourth album Elephant due to a hand injury the band's singer, Jack White, suffered last week in an automobile accident. White suffered a compound fracture to his left index finger in the accident that occurred on July 9 in White's hometown of Detroit.
I am so bitter right now...

Sad news, but there is always next time (barring acts of god such as death, sudden appearances of stagefright, and band breakups).
Spousal Unit is a huge Mötörhead fan, so I got us tickets eons ago to one of those big metal-music festivals. When we arrived, we saw a sign posted on the concert venue's gate: Due to a sudden accident the day of the show, bandleader Lemmy was not able to perform. The show went on -- we got to see Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Dangerous Toys, and some lame-ass metalers, but SU was distraught. Happily, I was able to snag tickets to a later show at New jersey's Meadowlands, and the spouse finally had a lifelong dream fulfilled. But SU's grief is what I remember from the incident. Thank goodness it all ended well.
Here's to Jack's speedy recovery, so that Allison finally can enjoy the duo in concert.

thanks Allison, very sad for the fans but there's probably no getting around a "compound fracture to his left index finger."
