Pistols in Baghdad?

John Lydon has admitted that he wants to stage a Sex Pistols concert in
Baghdad early next year to show Iraqis the 'downside' of democracy.
Lydon said: "I am definite about it. The red tape is lining up thick and fast, and the more they put up, the bigger the scissors. If you are going to offer these people democracy, then offer it to them in their fullest extreme so they fully know what they're walking into. Because democracy has a few problems, mate, and the Sex Pistols know that, but at least we can shout out about it, and that might be of some use to them."
The Sex Pistols are currently preparing for a tour of 13 US cities in Aug and Sep.1.

Maybe somebody will take a shot at them and put them out of our misery.
Actually, considering that our armed troops are continuing to get picked off, it would seem not entirely unlikely that Mike's scenario would out.
Really, that would work out all around. As he said, Lydon would be out of OUR misery. Plus, he'd finally get to be a martyr. It's all good.
Actually I'm rather fond of John from a distance - I'd like to see him gob a mullah.
I once read that Johnny Rotten ne Lydon attacked the Clash for their leftist politics, and bragged that he would get rich in the U.S. and then drive a Jag past Strummer's house to rub it in. To which Strummer replied, "Johnny Rotten said that? He's not Johnny Rotten anymore. I strip him of the title. He's Johnny Nice. Johnny Nice and Bourgeois."
The irony of course being that it was the Clash not the Pistols who later made it big in the U.S.
