Dandy Warhols on Virtual Tour of the Web
Published June 26, 2003
More creative use of the web - the glammy Dandy Warhols are moving their new website, called "The Odditorium," around to various hosts in advance of the domestic release of their Welcome to the Monkey House album:
- The Odditorium will feature short films (both live and animated), rare and unreleased music, a band history, a gigography, along with other unusual items from the Dandy Warhols' voluminous vaults. Beginning July 1st, the site will be made available on an alternating set of websites, each of which will offer their users exclusive access of The Odditorium for a one week period. The result is utterly unprecedented - a web site on tour across the Internet, with constantly revolving attractions encouraging visitors to return to future stops on the journey. The Odditorium Tour will travel the World Wide Web through Labor Day, September 1st (see itinerary below).
The Dandy Warhols have created the Odditorium website to offer fans a glimpse into their remarkable creative life. The Odditorium concept is based upon the Dandys' real-life headquarters, a warehouse - also known as The Odditorium - located in the band's hometown of Portland, Oregon. A kindred spirit to Andy Warhol's legendary Factory, The Odditorium serves as both band residence and rehearsal/performance space, as well as a local arts center for Portland's creative community. The diverse sites visited by the traveling URL - including partners from the world of fashion, gaming, alternative lifestyle and more - will reflect the style, diversity and fellowship inherent in the Odditorium concept.
