<description>Joss lost interest in &lt;i&gt;Buffy&lt;/i&gt; before the final season rolled around, and while the episodes he wrote are still the best of the last year, he might not be the best choice to tell anybody how to keep focus. :)

Similarly, &lt;i&gt;Babylon 5&lt;/i&gt; suffered badly when JMS was sure that there wouldn&#039;t be a fifth seasons. He blew his load at the end of season 4 and then had to put out an inferior fifth year that didn&#039;t move at the same pace or have the same finish as the previous four.

It&#039;s a tough thing to do, apparently, to keep up the quality consistently. I don&#039;t read Rowling, so I don&#039;t know how far she has fallen, but it&#039;s a common problem.</description>
