Brain Enhancement

Free meditation soundtrack available for download -
I've been listening to various meditation soundtracks for the last several years -- while I write, I listen with headphones, the volume turned low, and I find they help me concentrate on the task at hand, while often freeing up the best ideas and combinations from my subconscious.
The NY Times magazine has an interesting article about brain enhancement that follows the same general theory as listening to soundtracks that entrain the mind into more resourceful states.
While the technology is quite different than simple sound induction, I feel this is a significant corroboration of the general theory — you can make yourself smarter!
I've made a simple "metronome" soundtrack available for download at my site for any artists — writers, designers, graphic artists, painters, etc., who can listen with headphones while they are doing their work.
Suggestions for listening: Listen with headphones or ear buds and keep the volume low. This particular sound is a 'beep-beep-beep' metronome that, to be honest, was hard to get used to in the beginning.
Stick with it, though. After a while, it will fade into the background and you won't notice it — what you will notice is greater concentration, and the ability to draw forth better ideas while you work.
How does it work: The sound clicks at about 4 beats per second — the approximate tempo of the theta brain wave rhythm, which is credited with being the "creative state" people access for creating art, new ideas, solutions, etc. Once you get used to it, the sound will coax your mind to stay in the theta state.
Caution!: Do not listen while driving a motor vehicle, operating a forklift, Bobcat, John Deere tractor, power tools [including 'personal massagers,' ladies], etc.
This is a large, 29 mb file — the track is more than 20 minutes long, so give it time to download!
When you first listen, you may get drowsy — the mind enters into theta before you go into sleep and right before you come out of sleep, accounting for the lucid mind many experience when they awaken.
While you're at my site, consider purchasing your very own copy of The Stoic Artist -- an inspirational resource for creating the productive artistic life. The book is easy to read, and the kind of text you can refer to again and again — whenever you're feeling uninspired, or doubtful of your plans.
