From reading the Barnaked Ladies blog, they have written and recorded all the songs for the next album, and are currently in the mixing process. It's been 3 years since they released Stunt, and I'm ready for some new Canadian music that isn't commercial punk (a la Avril & Sum 41).

Avril and Sum 41 are hardly "pounk" anyway...

Agreed. What do Canadians have to be angry about anyway? Avril shouldn't be singing "Why'dya have to go and make things so complicated.." she shold be singing "Why'dya have go an make my currency so weak against the dollar..."

And every American artist should be singing "Whydya have to go and make my currency so weak against the Euro?"

Canadians have more important things to worry about than the influx of Americans looking for good shopping deals on the weekends. :)

The US Dollar isn't nearly as weak against the Euro as the Canadian dollar is against the US Dollar.

Yeah, like which professional sports team is going to make a run for the border. =^)

True that. Last time I checked (just now, oddly enough [wink]), a dollar would get you .86 euros, while a loonie will only get you 74 cents US. Still, it seemed a little out of nowhere in a discussion about music, no?

By the way, the sports teams are high-profile, but it's the doctors running for the border that hurt Canada more. :)

Why are the Canadian doctors heading for the states? Nothing here but high malpractice insurance, HMOs and no prescription drug coverage.

...And the ability to charge a princely sum for services rendered, not just the amount set by a group of bureaucrats in Ottawa, which is a big deal. Call it an uber-HMO.

Nothing has happened recently to change this, so it isn't like I'm stating new news, but anecdotal evidence among my own extended family as well as statistics I saw years ago during now-Senator Clinon's failed attempt to essentially duplicate Canada's system down here back up my statement.

Anyway, it's neither here nor there with regard to this post. :)
