The Dallas band Deathray Davies release their fourth studio album with Goth-like title Midnight at the Black Nail Polish Factory. This album plays like a combination of their previous work but only displays their best stuff. There is the garage rock that was on their last album Day of the Ray and the experimental leanings that was on their sophomore effort Return of the Drunk Ventriloquist.

John Dufilho is the mastermind behind this drunken mess and with the new album the band seems to really find be finding their sound. There are brilliant songs like The Girl who stole the Eiffel Tower and my favorite How to win at Roulette that display tight musicianship and weirdness. The album plays in sections with groups of songs in each section. When I first heard this, I didn't think that it was their best effort but after repeated listens I was convinced that the band had made a masterpiece. If you're tired of boring radio rock and want something refreshing then the Deathray Davies is your solution.

Dufilho continues his fascination with death with They put me in a box; Part Five and this version is the best one to date. This album is great and you should buy it now! Imagine if all those bands you like tried a little harder and threw in a case of beer after each track, then you got the Deathray Davies.
