A Gong for Gilmour

You can argue that the Queen's Birthday Honours list is a ridiculous anachronism, an awful reminder of our feudal past. When it comes to honours to 'services to music', there's always the feeling that the awards will always go to 'safe' artists, and they will never award such a thing to someone like Lemmy.

So make what you will of the fact that this year, Dave Gilmour and Sting have been awarded CBEs, Jools Holland an OBE, and there's an MBE for Errol Brown of Hot Chocolate.

I wonder if Roger Waters is going to whinge about this, jealous that he didn't get one. Maybe he'll even write a concept album about it.
