Say Anything
Published June 07, 2003
I just watched the DVD of "Say Anything", and in the final credits it touts the availability of the soundtrack on "Records, cassette and compact disc" (since there is also a product placement of a CD logo while somebody is inserting a cassette, well this is just gloss. Plus just seeing this on DVD is just funny).
Hands up, who has used a cassette in the past two years?
And who believes kick boxing is the sport of the future?

I wasn't smirking. And there is a clear arc through "Gross Point Blank" and "High Fidelity" about Loyld.
I hadn't seen this movie in years and it was a revelation.
Think about this: as an alternate universe, Lloyd goes into the army and becomes an assassin (Gross Pointe Blank) after dealing with that, he moves to Chicago and deals with the chick who still has issues with Joe (High Fidelity).

Smirk all you want, but this was John Cusak's best film until "High Fidelity."
