Porno - Irvine Welsh

I read half as often as I should; however books like Porno make it all a little easier! I read about 3/4 of the book in one week - I couldn't, and didn't put it down!

This book is the sequel to Trainspotting one of Irvine Welsh's best books, and also an international Blockbuster movie. It picks up the story 10 years after Trainspotting left us with Renton running into the distance with all the drug money. This book is based around "Sick Boy" or Simon, however in the course of the book It revisits all the old characters - Begbie, Spud, Dianne, and of course Renton.

After living in London for the period between the two books Sick Boy decides that he should head back to sunny Scotland and make a name for himself back in Leith. Although he heads to Scotland to run a bar in his hometown - What he ends up doing is making Porn movies in a way only Sick Boy could imagine!

I have read a number of Welsh's books and he never fails to impress me with his accurate portrayal of working class society. The other subject Welsh always covers well is Drug Culture, with all his graphic details and trivial Facts.

If you want to read something that looks at modern times and issues, that'll make you laugh, cringe and plot, that’s got a large portion of Sick Boy's Manipulative Cheek and loads of Begbie’s crazed fights then You've found the right book.

Irvine Welsh doesn't write bad books - Everyone should read one of them in their lifetime!

That's a sequel to Trainspotting? Then I *have* to read it! That book was awesome.
